Stowe, Vermont enjoys a special history with the BUMS. And once you discover it, you’ll understand why.

Sitting pretty in the #3 rank for the entire northeast, according to the readers of
Ski Magazine, Stowe is one spot where the off-mountain amenities are just as inspiring as its beautiful terrain. The swanky lodges, anchored by the stunning Stowe Mountain Lodge & Spa, are so posh that it’s extra easy to linger here over a hot mug of cocoa. And, the town of Stowe is as charming as they come.

The terrain is downright perfect for skiers and riders of all skill levels, including big cruisy groomers, tight steep challenges, and a monstrous halfpipe. This is a mountain that’s fun to explore; making it easy to find new nooks and untracked powder stashes.

With a big snow storm system on its way to Vermont, we couldn’t resist the chance to offer a trip we’ve been dreaming about all year.

We reserve the right to cancel, reschedule, or make changes in the trip itinerary as a result of weather or safety considerations or as otherwise deemed necessary or advisable. If your trip is cancelled or rescheduled due to weather, snow, or mountain conditions, or circumstances beyond our control, you will receive a full credit for a future trip. All trip credits may be applied to any trip in the SKI BUMS future. There is no expiration date.

SKI BUMS is not responsible for the cost of any additional expenses that you may incur as a result of trip rescheduling or cancellation (airline ticketing fees, etc.).

To use a credit for a future deposit or payment, please
contact us directly.
For cancellations received up through February 21, $49 fee. After February 22, 2016: no refund.

In order to obtain our bulk group discounts, we must agree to a very strict cancellation policy. It's the nature of group travel. Think of your SKI BUMS booking as you would an airline reservation; even we find someone to take your place,
the cancellation fees still apply.

If you buy travel insurance, you can still receive a refund for a cancelled SKI BUMS trip.

Buy travel insurance. We cannot stress this enough.

A travel insurer can provide a refund even when SKI BUMS cannot. In the circumstance that you need to cancel your trip because of work or health reasons, you should purchase travel insurance within 30 days of your initial trip deposit.

Even if you purchase travel insurance after this date, some coverage is much better than no coverage at all. Our cancellation policy is strict, and after cancellation fees kick in, a travel insurer may be your only chance for a full refund.

There are many travel insurers, and policies are very affordable. We especially recommend
travelinsured.com, and suggest you add the sports package to cover skiing & snowboarding activity.

In advance of the trip, the BUMS use this group to ask questions & help each other get stoked for our weekend getaway. During and after the trip, they share pics and messages with one another.

Of course, weather is impossible to predict, but SKI BUMS plans our trips with an eye on weather history. No east coast weather pattern has confounded us quite like the 2016 season; it led us to cancel several January trips because of a lack of snow. Thankfully, cold temperatures have empowered Stowe’s deeply impressive snow-making system, allowing them to build a comfortable base. View the snow report here. Even better, there’s a very big snow storm in the forecast… and we’re confident that Stowe is going to offer up lots of snowy fun for a two-day weekend!
For all those who are taking the bus, you’ll check in with our trip leaders at 8th Avenue and 34th street at 1:40 PM on Friday Feb 26th. For those who are driving to join us, you may check in at the Best Western after 3 PM. We’ll update all our drivers with our estimated arrival time so you can join the group upon our arrival in Vermont.
Based on traffic, we expect to arrive in Vermont around 9 PM. We’ll enjoy a relaxing check-in, then have some time to enjoy a fun meet & greet at the hotel.
This trip has a minimum of 20 participants and a maximum of 45 participants. Update, Feb 17: we have surpassed our minimum number of participants. This trip is nearly sold out.

The on-mountain adventure begins on Saturday morning the 27th. We divide into skill level groups that help you identify the other skiers and snowboarders who enjoy the same terrain that you do, and then we divide and conquer the mountain!
Learn about our skill level groups. >

In general, you'll spend most of the day in a smallish group of four or five boarders -- but that's up to you. The BUMS are a social crowd, so it's always easy to find others to join in the fun.

You and your group will set your own pace, and it's common to mix it up with a few different groups throughout the weekend. Although our charter bus will only make one trip per day between the hotel and the mountain, this is your vacation, so you're always free to break away and do your own thing.

We meet as a group for lunches and après-ski. Each evening, we’ll have official group dinner plans so you can continue to connect with the other BUMS who are along for the fun.

Prepare to bond; by the trip’s end, it'll be hard to believe that we've only spent three days together!
On the mountain: you should arrive at check-in with all your skiing & snowboarding apparel. SKI BUMS requires our trip participants to wear helmets while skiing & riding (helmets are included with group rentals). See our helpful guide, How to Dress for the Mountain, for suggestions. Stowe has ample gear & apparel shops, but prices will be a bit elevated, so pack wisely.

Off the mountain: all our events are casual dress. As you can pretty easily see, the BUMS are a casual, laid-back crowd; we aren't flashy. Be yourself, and be comfortable -- just as you would on any skiing / snowboarding trip.

A few vital packing tips:

+
Bring a daypack to take clothes & gear to / from the mountain each day. You won’t want to throw a suitcase on our bus each day, so we recommend bringing a backpack or gear bag which you can store in lockers / bag check in the Killington lodge.
+ Be sure to pack
winter wear shoes with a good tread; expect snowy, icy parking lots.
+ Don't forget
sunscreen for the bright sun UV exposure, and a swimsuit for the hotel pool!

Breakfast is included each day at our hotel, and we’re including a prepaid pizza party on Saturday night. The cost of all other meals are up to you; we’ll stop along the way for a dinner break on Friday and Sunday nights.
We are happy to arrange roommates for you. If you’ve already got a roommate now, you can indicate so on the signup form. You can request a room with one bed or two.

If you don’t have a roommate lined up yet, that’s fine too! More than half our participants ask us to provide a roommate for them. When signing up, you’ll simply indicate that you’d like a double occupancy. We’ll ask a few easy questions about your preferences (if you prefer someone of your same age group or gender, for example), then match you accordingly with one of the BUMS.

If you prefer your own room, you may select a single occupancy. We collect the single occupancy supplement when you sign up (View "Pricing & Payment" below). Please note: there are only a small number of single occupancy slots available. Single occupancies tend to sell out very quickly.
This particular trip is all about affordability; we've got a comfortable two night stay at the Best Western Plus at Waterbury / Stowe. It's got an indoor pool, game room, complimentary WiFi and a tasty free hot breakfast. This is our first time at this property, and we can’t wait. It’s exactly what you’d expect: clean, comfortable and convenient (read the TripAdvisor reviews). It’s about a twenty five minute drive from the hotel to the base lodges of Stowe.

SKI BUMS recommends that you take at least one lesson each season, no matter what your skill level is. Stowe has one of the very best skiing & snowboarding schools on the East Coast, and groups can take advantage of discounted pricing on 2.5 hour lessons. When you sign up, you may add a group lesson for $60. You’ll be free to use your lesson on either Saturday or Sunday.

You may add your group lesson at signup, or wait to pay in cash when you check in just before our departure from NYC.
About 2/3rd our participants will rent skis or snowboards. Our rentals will be ours to keep for the two days of our on-mountain adventure, and you can transport them to / from the hotel in our charter bus each day (or, for greater ease, check them in overnight ski check at the resort), without having to wait in the rental line each day. You may want to bring a skiing / snowboarding bag, if you have one, but don’t feel the need to buy one if you don’t have one yet.

The social element is what makes every SKI BUMS trip unforgettable, and that’s especially true on this trip!

The fun begins right away. Upon arrival at Stowe we’ll enjoy a cool meet & greet at our hotel, and our weekend will include apres-ski drinks at the mountain on Saturday and Sunday.

Of course, we’ll finish the weekend with one of our famous & fun bus parties home, as we chill out to the groovy tunes from the
SKI BUMS Spotify Party Playlist. We do it old-school, with a quick pit stop to pick up drinks & goodies to share along the way.
If you already have accommodations in Vermont, and / or you have a season pass for Stowe, you may still sign up to participate in all our private parties, apres ski get togethers, and group activities during the trip. This is called a Custom Trip.

We permit a maximum of eight participants within our Custom Trip category; if you’d like to sign up for a Custom Trip, contact us directly. We will pro-rate our trip cost and present you with customized pricing. As of now, we do have Custom Trip spaces remaining. Once we’ve reached our maximum group size, we do not permit additional participants to “crash” our events.
