There are many travel insurers. We especially recommend

A three day skiing & snowboarding trip… with a water park!

There are quite a few things about Jay Peak that will remind you a ski resort out West. That craggy peak. A huge tram that carries sixty people on a 7-minute scenic trip from the bottom to the tippy-top. And, the fact that it gets the most powder snow of any resort in Vermont.

But there's something that Jay Peak has which you won't find at any major ski resort in America -- a
huge indoor water park. With watersides, chutes, a surfing pool and hot tubs, it's an incredible place to warm up after a day on the slopes. We'll be sure to make a memorable appearance! And, it adjoins a swanky brand new ski-in, ski-out lodging property where we'll be making ourselves comfortable for three fun nights.

Now through Jan 1st only: save $50 when you sign up!

We want to make it easy to connect with other SKI BUMS members who have signed up for trips -- or are thinking about coming. New this season, we've got specific Facebook groups dedicated to each major trip, and they're open to anyone.

Our main Facebook fan page is a fantastic way to keep an eye on all the fun we're having. Our Twitter and Tumblr will keep you up to date on the latest news. We host cool trip videos on Vimeo and pics on Flickr. And on Spotify, we curate fun-loving playlists that are perfect for the slopes!
We've got it good for Jay Peak. For three fun nights, we'll rest, relax and live large at one of the newest, nicest ski properties in Vermont, the ski-in, ski-out Hotel Jay. Built only a few years ago, it was awarded a Trip Advisor 2013 Certificate of Excellence. we've got a mixture of double occupancy hotel rooms and multi-person condo suites. Each unit features a full kitchen, flat-screen TV's and WiFi, and many units feature fireplaces and balconies. Daily housekeeping service is included.
The BUMS like to cook in our condos. We'll have full kitchens, so we typically make breakfast for each other in the morning. For lunches, we gather as a big group at one of the on-mountain cafeterias. In the evening, we'll have a dinner reservation on Friday night at a great restaurant. Saturday night is our traditional condo cook-off, when you're invited to pair up with other condos for a big potluck dinner. It's terrifically old-school, and it's one of the best parts of our Vermont weekend each year.
Participants will simply sign up for the trip first, then submit roommate requests in December.

About half our participants will ask us to provide roommates -- and that's something we can easily do. We'll ask a few simple questions about your preferences (age, gender, etc.) and match you up with other BUMS. We speak from experience: it's an amazing way to make new friends.

If you have friends who are also on the trip, you can request them as roommates in December. As requests come in,
we'll be placing participants in units with 2, 4 or 5 people, based on your preferences. Every participant is guaranteed his or her own bed, unless you opt to share a King bed with someone you know. You may upgrade to a private bedroom for a supplemental charge; contact us to set it up.

Sharing King beds: nearly all contemporary ski condos have bedrooms with King beds, and to accommodate a large group like ours and keep the pricing reasonable, we will need friends (or boyfriends, girlfriends, spouses, etc.) to share King beds. We will only assign King beds to pairs who have specifically requested them -- i.e., we will not assign you to a King bed with someone you don't know -- but please help us out by keeping this in mind.

The SKI BUMS fun begins with a welcome reception at Jay Peak, where you'll have the chance to meet the BUMS who have joined us for the weekend. We'll also have après-ski events each afternoon and parties in the evening. These events -- like all our events at Jay Peak -- are exclusively for those who have signed up and paid for the trip through SKI BUMS. Trip crashers are not permitted. See our policy page for more information.
Most amazingly, the Hotel Jay surrounds a brand new indoor water park, the Pump House. With a surfing pool, watersides, a lazy river raft ride and indoor and outdoor hot tubs, admission to the water park is included for all the BUMS from the moment you check in until the moment you depart. It's a huge part of what makes Jay Peak such a unique resort, and we'll be having a lot of fun here!
The trip package price includes lift tickets for the duration of our stay; Jay Peak allows resort guests to enter the slopes immediately upon checking in at our lodging. Therefore, you've essentially got a 4-day adult lift ticket for Jay Peak Resort. If you arrive early enough to ski or ride on Thursday, you'll be on your own -- the trip leaders will begin our on-slope activities on Friday morning. If you do not ski or snowboard (or if you have a season pass), we can remove the lift ticket upon request.
We recommend this trip for all levels of skiers and snowboarders.

Beginners: this is a perfect weekend for beginner skiers and boarders. You'll be amazed what three successive days will do for your skill level and your confidence, and Jay Peak is a great location to take lessons. You can add 2-hour group lessons for a fantastic price. (See details > )

Intermediates: you'll adore the terrain at Jay Peak, and if you've been skiing or boarding in Vermont before, you'll notice how much less crowded the trails are here than many other resorts.

Advanced skiers and riders: expect classic East coast skiing and riding; Jay Peak has some pretty steep areas and fun mogul fields for the hot doggers. Be sure to sharpen your edges before coming; you can get some serious speed on those groomed, uncrowded double black diamonds.
Transportation is not included within the trip price. Although many will join us from NYC, participants will join this trip from cities throughout the East, including Boston and Washington, DC.

Because many New Yorkers don't own cars, we help arrange a carpool for participants who are coming from NYC. If you're traveling from outside NYC, you should plan to make your own transportation arrangements; feel free to post a friendly message on our
Facebook Wall.

While at Jay Peak, we will rely on our drivers for any trips to the grocery store, visits to nearby restaurants, etc. Parking is free at our lodging. There are public buses which serve the area as well, and private taxis.
You can add a 3-day equipment rental (for a discounted price of $83) when you sign up. About two-thirds of those who join this trip will rent equipment. The resort offers complimentary overnight gear storage.
If you do not ski or snowboard, you shouldn't let that keep you away. There are a lot of fun winter activities at Jay Peak, including snow tubing, snowshoeing and that incredible water park. SKI BUMS can remove the lift tickets from the package. Simply contact us to make arrangements for you.
In December, all participants will submit their requests for roommates and the carpool. Typically, we need at least a few New Yorkers to rent cars, so keep that in mind. On every Vermont trip we've hosted, we've always been able to arrange a ride from NYC for anyone who needs one. :)
We encourage all participants to take lessons, no matter what your skill level is. When you sign up, you can add a 2-hour group lesson for $40. (You may add this at a later date, up until 2 weeks before our trip.) Lessons are available for all skill levels -- beginner to expert.
Upon arrival at Jay Peak, all participants receive a detailed itinerary with meeting times, events, & helpful tips. Here is an overview of our trip, to help you think through scheduling, packing, etc.
You should plan to check in at Jay Peak by 6:00 PM. For those who are traveling from NYC, we recommend getting out of the city by noon.

Your first stop will be to check in at our lodging and pick up your keys. After getting settled in, you may want to make a stop at the water park -- your admission is included from the time you check in.

The official fun begins at our Welcome Reception, hosted at Jay Peak at
8:00 PM. Meet the SKI BUMS trip leaders and the skiers and boarders who are excited to be here. You won't want to miss this; we distribute lift tickets, detailed itineraries, rental vouchers and everything you'll need for a fun-filled weekend!

Our three days of skiing & riding are Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The trip begins with a skill level meet up, bright and early on Friday. You'll have the chance to meet other skiers and snowboarders who enjoy the same terrain -- at the same pace -- as you do. It's a huge part of what makes our trips so much fun.

Each day, we gather together for lunch at one of the on-mountain cafeterias. When you're done on the slopes, it's time for après-ski, then maybe a trip to the water park! It's built right into our hotel; no trudging out in the cold. On Friday night we've got a restaurant reservation at a tasty spot in town, and Saturday night we group up with other condos for our traditional condo cook off!

Saturday night is our final night party, always
a total blast. Sunday's your morning to sleep in if you like!
After a late lunch on Sunday, the BUMS will pack up and head home. Save travels, everyone!
