SKI BUMS are famous for a few things; one
of them is the uncanny ability to wake up
while it's still dark outside, scrounge together
a day full of winter wear, board a bus, and
take off for the mountains before the sun has
even thought of showing up.
Sometimes, though, it's nice to sleep in. And
that was the inspiration behind our daytrip to
Camelback, PA on Saturday, February 18th.
On this trip, we didn't leave 'til 10!
Yes, that's late for a group like ours, and the late arrival meant an even later depature. We
skied and rode ourselves into the sunset, as SKI BUMS took its first foray into the wacky
pasttime known as night skiing. Camelback proved a perfect playground for the adventure
-- all of their trails are lit for night skiing and riding -- and while some of us were at the bar
by 4, others kept taking in run after run until it was time to head home.
On the bus ride back to Manhattan, we popped open our 12-packs and tossed around our
homemade goodies, and those darn Coconut Chocolate Bars became the must-have
munchie of the day for the 2nd time. We happily partied ourselves back to city, and while
most of us chatted up our new friends, some of us drifted off to sleep with that feeling
you'll sometimes get after a day on the slopes: the sensation that you're still gliding down
the snow.
