For all NYC daytrips: the following cancellation fees apply. If you cancel 14 days or more before the trip: $20 cancellation penalty. If you cancel 2 weeks or less before the trip: no refund. For example: if the daytrip is on a Saturday, we must receive your cancellation by midnight on the Saturday 2 weeks before the trip to receive a partial refund. A text message saying "I can't make it to Windham" isn't sufficient; you must submit the official cancellation form, linked here:

Visit the Cancellation page to submit a cancellation >

Exchanges: the same cancellation fees apply if you'd like to cancel one trip and sign up for another; you may apply your partial refund toward the price of any other SKI BUMS trip. In the event that you're canceling one daytrip to sign up for a different one, follow these steps:

1) Submit an official
cancellation form | Visit the cancellation page >

2) Submit an official
signup form for the new trip (scroll up and sign up anew for the trip)

We recommend this trip for all levels of skiers and snowboarders.

SKI BUMS begins each trip with a skill level group-up, which gives you the chance to meet other skiers and riders who enjoy the same terrain -- at the same pace -- that you do.

We specify four different groups on our daytrips to help you identify one another -- but you can ski or snowboard with whomever you like.

Group 1: Beginners. You may be brand-brand new to skiing or snowboarding, or maybe you haven't been on skis or a board in a while. You're working on linking your turns, performing smooth, consistent turns both left and right. You're also working on controlling your speed and performing clean stops.

Group 2: Intermediates. You're most comfortable on green circle and blue square runs. You're working on improving your form and controlling your speed. Steep runs or mogul runs are still outside your comfort zone, and hardpack conditions (or ice) may be a little nervewracking. The half pipe or terrain park may still be a bit intimidating, but small features are fun.

Group 3: Advanced. Green runs may be a bit boring; you'd prefer to get into the blue square and black diamond runs. Steeper terrain is challenging yet fun. While mogul fields may not be your favorite, you can get down them without too much trouble. Crusty hardpack doesn't phase you; you know how to use your edges to grip the hill. If you venture into the terrain park, you're working on medium-size features, tables or rails, but you're not performing airborne tricks just yet.

Group 4: Expert. You've got excellent command in powder, crud and hardpack. You keep a quick pace, and mogul fields or side-country off-piste is more fun for you than a standard groomer. You've got clean, good form, no matter what the weather is serving up that day. For those who hit the park and pipe, you've got strong form on large features, and aerials show up in your bag of tricks.
Buy travel insurance. It's a great idea.

A travel insurer can provide a refund even when SKI BUMS cannot. Just in case you need to cancel your trip because of work or health reasons -- especially within 2 weeks of the trip, where there is no refund -- you should purchase travel insurance within 7 days of your initial trip payment.

We especially recommend

Daytrips are all about connecting. There are hundreds of LGBT skiers and snowboarders in the NYC area -- but how many of them do you know? Our daytrips are the perfect opportunity to make new friends who love a good snowy outdoor adventure as much as you do. We match you up with others who are at your skill level, meet as a big group for lunch and après-ski, and enjoy a rollicking party bus home. It's a simple way to have an awesome day, and come home with a whole group of new friends.

It's an early morning, yes. But it's an exhilarating day. Read on for a quick overview of how a SKI BUMS daytrip works.
5:40 AM -- sharp.* Meet the SKI BUMS bus beside the 24-hour Duane Reade on the corner of 8th Avenue and 34th Street. // (*Note, our Wednesday Camelback daytrip departs an hour later.)
Upon arrival, we split up into our skill level groups, which help you identify the BUMS who enjoy the same terrain -- at the same pace -- that you do. You're still free to ski / ride with whomever you like.
We meet as a group for lunch and the traditional afternoon drinks known as après-ski. It's the perfect time to get to know the other BUMS who came on the trip.
Arguably the highlight of the day, we crank up the SKI BUMS Party Playlist and share homemade food and drinks for one of our bus parties home. It's a lot of fun.
Here's what's included in the trip price: personal assistance & trip coordination from the SKI BUMS trip leaders, private charter bus transportation, lift ticket, bus party home
We turn down the lights and take a nice long nap on our way to the mountain, about 2 1/2 hours away.
Weather cancellations / postponement: In the event that the weather forces SKI BUMS to cancel or postpone a trip, all participants will be offered a full refund.

When inclement weather threatens a trip's scheduling, we issue a "Weather Watch" email to all participants, and post it on our
Facebook and Twitter page. A final call will be made by the day before the trip and clearly posted on the SKI BUMS website, Facebook and Twitter.
