In The Bums Rush, teams of two race through historic places and undiscovered corners of New York City, determined to outpace and outsmart their competitors. Inspired by the hit TV show "The Amazing Race," the contest explodes LIVE onto the stage of The Bums Rush Prize Party, where our finalists compete to win our Grand Prize: a free vacation for two to a spectacular world-class ski resort in the Alps.

If you enjoy an outdoor adventure, you'll love The Bums Rush. It's not a test of strength or stamina; it's a test of strategy, creativity and smarts. Your physical pace is up to you -- and as all previous winners will report, "it's not about how fast you get there. It's about going to the right place."
All competitors will need a cell phone, an unlimited New York City MTA MetroCard, and $10 in cash. Each team must have at least one digital camera -- in addition to your phones.
You must be 21 years of age to enter The Bums Rush. Employees and affiliates of our event sponsors may not enter the competition. This contest is open to LGBT people and straight-allies; all are welcome. You do not need to be a registered member of SKI BUMS to enter the contest.
Our winning team will join the SKI BUMS trip to St. Anton, Austria, March 17-24, 2012. You'll fly for free from New York City to Zurich, Switzerland and enjoy a seven-night stay at an award-winning design hotel with beautiful views of the slopes. A six-day all access ski pass, daily breakfasts and dinners and round-trip ground transfers are also included. We'll include a complimentary SKI BUMS membership, too. It's an amazing prize package... and absolutely any team can win.

This year's contest has a small entry fee to cover the costs of the event. No fund-raising is required. You may pay with any major credit card through our secure server when you register.

The main contest is on Saturday, October 22. The finalists compete live in our grand finale at The Bums Rush Prize Party on the evening of Sunday, Oct 23.

At The Bums Rush Prize Party, we'll be giving away much more than just a trip to Austria. Simply by supporting our cause and buying a raffle ticket, you could win vacations for two to exciting ski destinations in Utah, Vermont and New Mexico. After checking in, you'll take part in a fun, informative information session and pep talk. We'll cover the rules and provide helpful tips. After the competition officially begins, you'll have breaks throughout the day and a rest stop for lunch. We estimate the Saturday portion to be complete by 8:00 PM.
