Flight recommendations

Most flights to Telluride connect through Denver or Salt Lake City; American Airlines connects through Dallas. Of
the numerous options,
SKI BUMS is recommending Delta via Salt Lake City for this trip, simply because the
departure and arrival times are more appealing than on many other carriers. SKI BUMS participants do receive a
5% discount on American Airlines; see below for details. Feel free to choose whichever airline or departure city
works best for you, keeping our
target arrival time in mind.

SKI BUMS will help coordinate ground-transfers, based on the flights that our participants select. In other
words,
chances are good that you'll have friends along for the ride from Montrose.
No one's quite sure how Telluride got its
name.

Some folks think that it's inspired by the mineral
tellurium, and with its long history as a mining
town, it's a good guess... but there's
no tellurium
in the mines near Telluride.

A more common theory comes from the fact that
the town is terrifically remote: seven hours from
Denver.
"To hell you ride," the old silver miners
used to say.

Today, simply hop on the gondola to take a ride
to
heaven,
because this remote location has become
a top-notch destination. With nearly 2,000 skiiable
acres, untracked bowls, and uncrowded slopes and
spectacular views of the San Juan mountains,
we're inviting you to take a ride for some
springtime adventure with SKI BUMS.
Explore Telluride's new terrain in the gorgeous Colorado spring sunshine

For the new season, Telluride has just opened an entire new area; skiers and riders can explore the
challenging terrain of the stunning
Palmyra Peak, adding 200 acres and nearly 2,000 feet of vertical. This
north facer stands tall at 13,320 feet -- a perfect playground for spring conditions. Beyond all this, Telluride's
built a reputation as
a fun mountain for all skill levels, so if you're looking to get a taste of late-season
skiing and riding at its best, this trip is for you.

The weather in late March is full of sunshine, and Colorado's famous for it: 350 days of sun, on average. At
this time of year, the snow gets soft in the afternoons towards the town, while the high-altitude of the peaks
keeps things frozen up top. Historically, March is Telluride's snowiest month, so we may be in for some fluffy
stuff to play in.

We'll have a fun daily itinerary of get-togethers -- with as much time as we can get in the sun -- from
outdoor barbecues at lunch to afternoon apres ski. It's simply a great way to vacation.
Have a friend or partner who's not a skier? Take a look at Telluride's other things to do

We know we've got BUMS who are happily coupled with non-skiers and boarders, so we want to be sure you
take note of all the other fun stuff that's available at Telluride. Check out the
San Juan Outdoor School to
learn about snowshoeing, rock climbing, ice climbing, mountaineering, and hiking. Late March is an ideal time
to enjoy stuff like this, and we love to have new friends with us. We've even built time into our itinerary to
make your own plans, for those of you who are in the mood to try something new!

Check out the San Juan Outdoor School >
After all that adventure, you'll need a place
to relax. We'll put up our feet at the
swanky
Ice House Lodge and
Condominiums.
Its location is ideal;
merely two blocks away from the Telluride
gondola, right in the heart of the historic
village of Telluride. Fantastic restaurants,
cafes, equipment shops, and the deliciously
famous
Baked in Telluride are all within
easy walking distance.

Our modern digs feature an outdoor heated
pool, hot tub and steam room,
complimentary continental breakfast, free
high-speed internet, and a lounge for apres
ski. The recently renovated hotel rooms all
feature flat-screen TV's, while the condos
feature a living room, a fully stocked
kitchen, and a washer and dryer.
New for this trip: SKI BUMS is offering both condos and hotel rooms for our trip to Telluride. The hotel rooms
and condo units adjoin one another, but share the same breakfast area, pool, etc. You can select what's best for
you, knowing that whichever you choose, everyone else will be nearby.
As remote as Telluride is, there are a surprising number of airlines that can get you there. You can fly into
Montrose, Colorado, which is about 90 minutes outside Telluride, or fly to Telluride Regional Airport, which
is about 10 minutes outside town. Ample ground transfer services will complete your trip, and once you're in
town, you'll have no need for a car. Telluride is a seven-hour drive from Denver, so when booking your trip, be
thankful that you won't have to worry about Denver's weekend crowds on Telluride's uncrowded slopes. :)
