Just how BUM-a-licious are the SKI BUMS? ;)
It's the same question that's often on the mind of those who visit one of our social events for the first time. Our events are open to anyone -- both members and prospective members -- and they're a great way to get a feel for the SKI BUMS vibe. Whether it's our monthly party -- Avalanche -- or a charity event like The Bums Rush, we think it's pretty natural to wonder if someone in the room might be one of those skiers or riders who'll raise your temperature when you're out in the cold.
But talk to anyone who's actually involved in SKI BUMS, and you'll hear a very different story.
SKI BUMS has built a fantastic reputation for being all about making new friendships. It's instantly noticeable when you come to one of our events; it permeates the whole atmosphere. Typically at a gay bar in a big city like New York or LA, if someone approaches you to say hi, you might easily assume that they're interested in dating you. Therefore, sometimes when you're out at a bar, your guard's up. If you're not interested back, you might need to make it clear...
That's not how it works in SKI BUMS-land. At our events and on our trips, the assumption is simply that you're there to make friends. It's the default setting. You can say hi to anyone you like -- without any assumptions. SKI BUMS guys and girls feel the freedom to simply get to know one another, relax and have fun. That's why our parties are so laid-back, easy going and friendly -- there's no pressure.
If you get involved in SKI BUMS, you'll have the chance to travel, socialize and get to know an incredible group of people (and about two-thirds of our members are single). And our social events are designed to help you maintain new friendships after you've returned from a trip. But when you come to one of our social events, there's no need to worry about whether that new outfit makes you look cute. All you need to do is relax and be yourself.
Which, as far as we're concerned, is mighty attractive.
