Killington, Vermont is the largest ski resort in Vermont, and — to put it mildly — they’ve got it goin’ on. Often referred to as The Beast, more than three thousand acres of skiable terrain stretches across a sprawling evergreen forest that rises up into seven peaks.

It’s Vermont’s second highest mountain resort, which means that when they make snow here, it really sticks around. It’s got one of the longest seasons anywhere in the USA. Thankfully, all this terrain gives its many fans an awful lot of space to spread out and have a blast.

SKI BUMS has been enjoying fun-filled trips to Killington since 2006; at this point, we know all its secret nooks and crannies where skiers and riders of all skill levels can make this mountain their own. You’ll get to enjoy three fantastic days on the mountain, and an unforgettable New Year’s Eve private party that will be sure to start off your near year on an undeniable high!

Space on this trip is very limited, and it will sell out.

Sign up for our trip to Killington begins at 8 PM EST tonight >
Thursday, December 31, 2021 to Sunday, January 3, 2022
3 -- Thursday through Saturday
Rutland, Vermont — about thirty minutes from the mountain

We reserve the right to cancel, reschedule, or make changes in the trip itinerary as a result of weather or safety considerations or as otherwise deemed necessary or advisable. If your trip is cancelled or rescheduled due to weather, snow, or mountain conditions, or circumstances beyond our control, you will receive a full credit for a future trip. All trip credits may be applied to any trip in the SKI BUMS future. There is no expiration date.

SKI BUMS is not responsible for the cost of any additional expenses that you may incur as a result of trip rescheduling or cancellation (airline ticketing fees, etc.).

To use a credit for a future deposit or payment, please
contact us directly.
Through December 12, you may cancel your spot at any time and receive a full refund. After December 12, the following cancellation fees apply:

For cancellations received from December 12 - 20, $300 fee. After December 21, 2015: no refund.

In order to obtain our bulk group discounts, we must agree to a very strict cancellation policy. It's the nature of group travel. Think of your SKI BUMS booking as you would an airline reservation; even we find someone to take your place,
the cancellation fees still apply.

If you buy travel insurance, you can still receive a refund for a cancelled SKI BUMS trip.

To cancel your SKI BUMS trip, click here >
Buy travel insurance. We cannot stress this enough.

A travel insurer can provide a refund even when SKI BUMS cannot. In the circumstance that you need to cancel your trip because of work or health reasons, you should purchase travel insurance within 30 days of your initial trip deposit.

Even if you purchase travel insurance after this date, some coverage is much better than no coverage at all. Our cancellation policy is strict, and after cancellation fees kick in, a travel insurer may be your only chance for a full refund.

There are many travel insurers, and policies are very affordable. We especially recommend
travelinsured.com, and suggest you add the sports package to cover skiing & snowboarding activity.

Of course, weather is impossible to predict, but SKI BUMS plans our trips with an eye on weather history. Killington has one of the longest seasons in North America, with robust snowmaking to supplement what Mother Nature sends down from the skies. This year, the resort opened very early — mid-October! Traditionally, Killington’s terrain is 100% open over the New Year’s holiday weekend, and new snowfall is very common at this time of year. Expect classic East Coast conditions, and cross your fingers that we might get to enjoy a powder day!
For all those who are taking the bus, you’ll check in with our trip leaders at 8th Avenue and 34th street at 10:40 AM on Thursday the 31st. For those who are driving to join us, you may check in at the Holiday Inn at Rutland after 3 PM. We’ll update all our drivers with our estimated arrival time so you can join the group upon our arrival in Vermont.
Based on traffic, we expect to arrive in Vermont around 5 PM. We’ll enjoy a relaxing check-in, then have some time to chill and prepare for the fun before our private New Year’s Eve party!
This trip has a minimum of 30 participants and a maximum of 55 participants. If we fail to meet our minimum number of registered participants by 14 days before the trip, the trip may be cancelled. In that event, those who have signed up for the trip will receive a full refund.

The on-mountain adventure begins on Friday morning the 1st. We divide into skill level groups that help you identify the other skiers and snowboarders who enjoy the same terrain that you do, and then we divide and conquer the mountain!
Learn about our skill level groups. >

In general, you'll spend most of the day in a smallish group of four or five boarders -- but that's up to you. The BUMS are a social crowd, so it's always easy to find others to join in the fun.

You and your group will set your own pace, and it's common to mix it up with a few different groups throughout the weekend. Although our charter bus will only make one trip per day between the hotel and the mountain, this is your vacation, so you're always free to break away and do your own thing.

We meet as a group for lunches and après-ski. Each evening, we’ll have official group dinner plans so you can continue to connect with the other BUMS who are along for the fun.

Prepare to bond; by the trip’s end, it'll be hard to believe that we've only spent three days together!
On the mountain: you should arrive at check-in with all your skiing & snowboarding apparel. SKI BUMS requires our trip participants to wear helmets while skiing & riding. See our helpful guide, How to Dress for the Mountain, for suggestions. Killington has ample gear & apparel shops, but prices will be a bit elevated, so pack wisely.

Off the mountain: all our events are casual dress. As you can pretty easily see, the BUMS are a casual, laid-back crowd; we aren't flashy. Be yourself, and be comfortable -- just as you would on any skiing / snowboarding trip.

A few vital packing tips:

+
Bring a daypack to take clothes & gear to / from the mountain each day. You won’t want to throw a suitcase on our bus each day, so we recommend bringing a backpack or gear bag which you can store in lockers / bag check in the Killington lodge.
+ Be sure to pack
winter wear shoes with a good tread; expect snowy, icy parking lots.
+ Don't forget
sunscreen for the bright sun UV exposure, and a swimsuit for the hotel pool!

Breakfast is included each day at our hotel, and we’re including a tasty prepaid dinner at our New Year’s Eve party on Thursday night. The cost of all other meals are up to you; we’ll be arranging group dinners for Friday and Saturday at affordable local eateries. To make things easier on the payment logistics of these large group meals, we’ll ask you to please plan to pay for the group dinners in cash. You should budget about $30 for each dinner, plus whatever you’d like to drink.
We are happy to arrange roommates for you. If you’ve already got a roommate now, you can indicate so on the signup form. You can request a room with one bed or two.

If you don’t have a roommate lined up yet, that’s fine too! About half our participants ask us to provide a roommate for them. When signing up, you’ll simply indicate that you’d like a double occupancy. Later, we’ll ask a few easy questions about your preferences (if you prefer someone of your same age group or gender, for example), then match you accordingly with one of the BUMS.

We take those specific roommate requests about a week before the trip, when you submit your
Travel Portfolio. We know that between now and then, you may have a friend decide to come — or you may hit it off with one of the trip participants at a SKI BUMS local event.

If you prefer your own room, you may select a single occupancy. We collect the single occupancy supplement when you sign up (View "Pricing & Payment" below). Please note: there are only a small number of single occupancy slots available. Single occupancies tend to sell out very quickly.
This particular trip is all about affordability; we've got a comfortable three night stay at the Holiday Inn in nearby Rutland, Vermont. It's got an indoor pool, game room, complimentary WiFi and a tasty free hot breakfast. We've stayed here on three previous trips, and the the BUMS are big fans. It's exactly what you'd expect from a Holiday Inn. Clean, comfortable and convenient. It’s about a thirty minute drive from the hotel to the slopes of Killington.

SKI BUMS recommends that you take at least one lesson each season, no matter what your skill level is. Killington is a great place to take one, and if you prepay for a 2-hour group lesson through SKI BUMS, you’ll save money — they’re just $49. You may use your lesson on any of our three days at Killington, but most participants will use theirs on the first day.

You may add your group lesson at signup, or wait to pay in cash when you check in just before our departure from NYC.
About 2/3rd our participants will rent skis or snowboards. Our rentals will be ours to keep for the three days of our on-mountain adventure, and you can transport them to / from the hotel in our charter bus each day (or, for greater ease, check them in overnight ski check at the resort), without having to wait in the rental line each day. You may want to bring a skiing / snowboarding bag, if you have one, but don’t feel the need to buy one if you don’t have one yet.

We've got lots of inside advice for those who are taking their first SKI BUMS trip. We invite you to view our invaluable trip tips, and take a moment to learn all about our professional trip leaders.
The social element is what makes every SKI BUMS trip unforgettable, and that’s especially true on this trip!

The fun begins right away. We’ll begin celebrating as soon as the wheels hit the pavement on our trip to Vermont, with tunes from the
SKI BUMS Spotify Party Playlist and one of our famous bus parties! We do it old-school, where everyone’s invited to bring homemade goodies and drinks to share. This is the chance to show off your culinary marvels — our bus will take place during lunchtime, so you’ll want to plan ahead.

On New Year’s Eve, we’ve got our very own private dinner party and champagne toast in Vermont. The details of this party won’t be announced publicly, but you’re gonna have a blast. :)

We’ll finish the weekend with another fun bus party home, as we chill out to the groovy beats of SKI BUMS very own
DJ Justin Dawson. Justin first joined the BUMS in 2006, and he’s since become one of nightlife’s most sought-after DJ’s! He’s custom-mixing a special playlist just for us.
If you already have accommodations in Vermont, and / or you have a season pass for Killington, you may still sign up to participate in all our private parties, apres ski get togethers, and group activities during the trip. This is called a Custom Trip.

We permit a maximum of eight participants within our Custom Trip category; if you’d like to sign up for a Custom Trip, contact us directly. We will pro-rate our trip cost and present you with customized pricing. As of now, we do have Custom Trip spaces remaining. Once we’ve reached our maximum group size, we do not permit additional participants to “crash” our events.

Every year, we curate a special list of the newest upbeat music, and invite you to rock out on our bus parties!

If you’re tired of hearing the same ol’ songs, our playlists will give you a breath of fresh mountain air. This music draws heavily on new artists who aren’t household names yet… and it’s the perfect jam for hanging with new friends as you celebrate a a fun-filled trip to the mountains.
