A full weekend getaway to West Virginia!

Talk to any skier or snowboarder in the Mid-Atlantic, and there's one resort that makes 'em begin to wax poetic... Snowshoe, West Virginia. With all the charms of a self-contained ski village, hotels and shops, you might blink and think for a moment that you're at one of those cute ski resorts out West.

But that's not all. The terrain here offers more than enough fun for a few days.
It's the largest ski resort in the Mid-Atlantic, with 14 lifts, a 1,500 foot vertical drop and more than 250 acres of skiable terrain. We've got our own private condos for a getaway with our DC-area BUMS -- alongside others throughout the East -- and an itinerary for fun-loving adventure from start to finish. Get ready for a weekend getaway that we hope to make an annual tradition with SKI BUMS!

We want to make it easy to connect with other SKI BUMS members who have signed up for trips -- or are thinking about coming. New this season, we've got specific Facebook groups dedicated to each major trip, and they're open to anyone.

If you're curious about this trip -- or want to see who's coming, simply
sign up here >

Our main Facebook fan page is a fantastic way to keep an eye on all the fun we're having. Our Twitter and Tumblr will keep you up to date on the latest news. We host cool trip videos on Vimeo and pics on Flickr. And on Spotify, we curate fun-loving playlists that are perfect for the slopes!
Logger's Run offers our guests deluxe and standard 4 and 5 bedroom log townhomes that are adjacent to the slopes, with a single car garage. Hot tub on the deck with views of the slope. Out the back door, the Upper Flume slope will take you straight to the high speed Ballhooter lift. The units have beautiful kitchens, air conditioning, large Master bedroom with spa tub. Gas fireplace with large built - in entertainment center. Walking distance to the village or take the free Snowshoe Shuttle.
The BUMS like to cook in our condos. We'll have full kitchens, so we typically make breakfast for each other in the morning. For lunches, we gather as a big group at one of the on-mountain cafeterias. In the evening, we'll have a dinner on Saturday night at a great restaurant; the cost of that meal is included in the trip price.
Participants will simply sign up for the trip first, then submit roommate requests in mid-January.

About half our participants will ask us to provide roommates -- and that's something we can easily do. We'll ask a few simple questions about your preferences (age, gender, etc.) and match you up with other BUMS. We speak from experience: it's an amazing way to make new friends.

If you have friends who are also on the trip, you can request them as roommates. As requests come in,
we'll be placing participants in units with 5 or 6 people, based on your preferences. Every participant is guaranteed his or her own bed, unless you opt to share a King bed with someone you know. You may upgrade to a private bedroom for a supplemental charge; contact us to set it up.

Sharing King beds: nearly all contemporary ski condos have bedrooms with King beds, and to accommodate a large group like ours and keep the pricing reasonable, we will need friends (or boyfriends, girlfriends, spouses, etc.) to share King beds. We will only assign King beds to pairs who have specifically requested them -- i.e., we will not assign you to a King bed with someone you don't know -- but please help us out by keeping this in mind.

On Friday evening, we'll host a welcome party where you'll have the chance to meet the BUMS who have joined us for the weekend. We'll also have après-ski events each afternoon and parties in the evening. These events -- like all our events at Snowshoe -- are exclusively for those who have signed up and paid for the trip through SKI BUMS. Trip crashers are not permitted. See our policy page for more information.
The trip package price includes a 3-day adult lift ticket for Snowshoe. You're encouraged to arrive early enough to ski or ride on Friday (see itinerary, below). If you do not ski or snowboard (or if you have a season pass), we can remove the lift ticket upon request.
We recommend this trip for all levels of skiers and snowboarders.

Beginners: this is a perfect weekend for beginner skiers and boarders. You'll be amazed what three successive days will do for your skill level and your confidence, and Snowshoe is a great location to take lessons. You can add private or group lessons for a fantastic price. ( learn more > )

Intermediates: the largest ski resort in the Mid-Atlantic offers terrific blue runs, and the extra room means that the runs are a lot less crowded here than at many other resorts.

Advanced skiers and riders: expect classic East coast skiing and riding; Snowshoe has some pretty steep areas and fun mogul fields for the hot doggers. Be sure to sharpen your edges before coming; you can get some serious speed on those groomed black diamonds.

Transportation is not included within the trip price. Although many will join us from DC, participants will join this trip from cities throughout the Mid-Atlantic.

To make the trip more fun for everyone, we help arrange a carpool for participants who are coming from DC. If you're traveling from outside DC, you should plan to make your own transportation arrangements; feel free to post a friendly message on the trip's
Facebook Wall.

While at Snowshoe, we will rely on our drivers for any trips to the grocery store, visits to nearby restaurants, etc. Parking is free at our lodging, and each unit features a one-car garage. There are public shuttles which serve the ski village, which is within walking distance.
You can add a 3-day equipment rental (for a discounted price of $75) when you sign up. About two-thirds of those who join this trip will rent equipment.
If you do not ski or snowboard, you shouldn't let that keep you away. There are a lot of fun winter activities activities at Snowshoe, including snow tubing, snowmobile tours, and the simple fun of hanging out in a lodge in the snowy mountains. SKI BUMS can remove the lift tickets from the package. Simply contact us to make arrangements for you.
In January, all participants will submit their requests for roommates and the carpool. On every carpool trip we've hosted, we've always been able to arrange a ride for anyone who needs one. :)
We encourage all participants to take lessons, no matter what your skill level is. When SKI BUMS collects roommate requests, we'll also give you the opportunity to sign up for a group lesson with other BUMS, which run about $50 per lesson.
Upon arrival at Snowshoe all participants receive a detailed itinerary with meeting times, events, & helpful tips. Here is an overview of our trip, to help you think through scheduling, packing, etc.
We want all participants in DC to plan to leave by 1 PM on Friday. This will give you time to check in, pick up equipment rentals and enjoy some relaxation time.

For those who can leave earlier, Friday is an optional ski / snowboard day. We've got a three-day lift ticket, so those of you who would like to enjoy three fun-loving days on the slopes can do so.

The trip leaders will be available bright and early on Friday morning at Snowshoe -- to distribute lift tickets and welcome packets upon your arrival -- but we'll have two different meet up
points for the day:.

Welcome Lunch at 1 PM: for those who have made it to the mountain in time to ski and ride, we'll connect at lunch, order a skill level grouping, etc.

Welcome Party at 8 PM: all BUMS on deck! This is our official welcome party and reception. You won't want to miss it!

Early on Saturday, the BUMS will host a skill level group-up so you can connect with others who enjoy the same difficulty-level of terrain -- at the same pace -- that you do. Learn more about how SKI BUMS trips work.) We'll gather as a group for lunch and après-ski, then build in some r&r; time back at the condos to take advantage of our built-in hot tubs!

On Saturday evening, we're hosting a tasty group dinner, and that's included in the trip price.

Sunday morning, we'll pack up and check out of our condos, then head back to the mountain! A late lunch / early après will bring everyone together for a fun send-off before the drive back home.
